Austin FC playoff tickets sell out in minutes, resale market skyrockets – CAPITAL CITY SOCCER
No opponent. No date. No time. No problem.
Verde fans know very little about the matchup for Austin FC’s first-ever playoff game, but that didn’t stop tickets from selling out “within minutes” when they went on sale to the general public at 10am on Sept. 30.
To be fair, few tickets were probably available by that point.
Four days earlier the club first released tickets to season ticket holders—who had the chance to snatch up about 15,000 seats (of the 20,738 capacity Q2 Stadium). Then Oak Collective Waitlist members got the next shot to buy tickets, before finally reaching the hands of the general public.
Still, the immediate sell-out caught the eye of ESPN soccer commentator Taylor Twellman and other MLS pundits on Twitter.

Within minutes of tickets appearing in the accounts of ticket holders, seats popped up for resale on SeatGeek. The ticket platform also acts as a secondary market where ticket holders can sell their digital tickets for a 10% service fee.
We were shocked by the prices these playoff tickets are currently going for.
GA Supporter seats, typically the cheapest in the stadium, are selling for $210 (including fees). The average seat costs nearly $500 on SeatGeek. Prices range from about $200 (standing room only) to $1,680 for field level seats.

The Verde & Black will host the first round of the MLS Cup 2022 playoffs at Q2 Stadium on Oct. 15, 16 or 17. The date, time, and opponent will be known right after Austin’s last match of the regular season—against Colorado on Oct. 9.
