Austin FC ranked 21st most valuable soccer team in the world – CAPITAL CITY SOCCER

In its fourth MLS season, Austin FC nearly cracked the top 20 most valuable soccer clubs worldwide, according to the latest study by Sportico.

The sports business publication estimates the Verde are worth a cool $800 million, with projected revenue of $90 million in 2022-23 revenue. That puts Austin FC firmly at No. 21, up 11 spots compared to last year, just ahead of Seattle Sounders (MLS), Olympique Lyonnais (Ligue 1), and AS Roma (Serie A). Among just MLS teams, Austin is the 6th most richest club. The other major league clubs in Texas, Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas, are 50th and unranked, respectively.

To derive the enterprise value of the world’s leading soccer clubs, Sportico calculated each team’s revenue, relying on publicly available financial statements, Deloitte’s Football Money League publication, and their own estimates. For MLS, the publication used their previous valuations published in January. The values include real estate and related businesses.

In 2019, team owner Anthony Precourt paid a paltry expansion fee of $150 million for an MLS franchise in Austin.
