Austin loves soccer (and the Women's World Cup) – CAPITAL CITY SOCCER
If you think we sound like a broken record, you’re right.
This time last year we wrote nearly the exact same thing about the Men’s World Cup. Now it’s the Women’s World Cup and once again Austin is killing it on the TV viewership front.
But don’t take our word for it, Steven Goff has been tweeting the top 10 ratings for WWC viewership on a weekly basis. Deep into the tournament the ATX ranks #1 out of all U.S. TV markets.
Top 10 rated U.S. TV markets for Fox Sports’ coverage of #fifawwc through the quarterfinals (48 matches):
1. Austin2. Kansas City3. San Diego4. Tulsa5. Washington, DC6. Richmond7. SF Bay Area8. Seattle9. W Palm Beach

Still not convinced #AustinLovesSoccer? Look no further than actual butts in the seats at public watch parties on USA game days. On social media, you’ll see watch parties like at Haymaker and Mister Tramps are packed. It’s glorious!
For a long time we’ve heard arguments on why Austin won’t be able to support an MLS team, and among the dumbest is that the city doesn’t like soccer.
It’s been much easier lately to swat away those trolls (cough…cough, season ticket deposits for 30,000-plus seats). Keep lovin’ soccer Austin!
