Young Austin FC talent Dani Pereira gets Venezuelan National Team nod for 1st time – CAPITAL CITY SOCCER

The Venezuelan Football Federation (La Federación Venezolana de Fútbol) announced the roster for its upcoming international friendly matches in the U.S. — and it includes Austin FC’s own Dani Pereira.

It marks Pereira’s first call-up to the senior international level, a massive opportunity in his young career. The 22-year-old midfielder has been a stalwart of the Verde, making 77 appearances and leading the team in minutes played so far this MLS season.

DP joins Venezuela for two international friendly matches on the East Coast.

  • vs Honduras on June 15 (Audi Field in Washington, D.C.)
  • vs Guatemala on June 18 (Rentschler Field in Hartford, CT)

We had the chance to ask Pereira how he felt about bringing his game to La Vinotinto.

“I’ll try to bring joy to Venezuela. Obviously, I don’t know a lot about how they play, or what position I would play. But obviously I will take advantage of every opportunity and try to bring joy to the country.”
